Installing WordPress in cPanel is a very simple task IF you are using the Fantastico Installer. Click-click and your WordPress site is ready for action! But one thing I have noticed over the years is that Fantastico sometimes, well, jacks up. Nothing against them, but it happens. So you end up going thought the un-install, re-install, blah blah, blah and finally, success, we hope!
Now, not every hosting company has Fantastico installed within their cPanel’s. Some companies choose not to use it, so you will need to install WordPress the old fashion way: The 5 min Install! But our friends at HostGator have Fantastico installed in all their cPanel’s. And they have now upped the ante! They have recently created their own version of Fantastico called “Quick Install”.
It essentially works the same as Fantastico, but it has a cleaner look and seems to perform better. It is still in Beta, but hell, what software isn’t. We have installed over 50 application with it and, at this point, no issues. Not to say it won’t, but we have yet to see any.
So, besides the video lesson we have on this post, I have included a little how-to with some images below. If you are using HostGator, give it a whirl! If you are using someone else, well, nothing to see here…keep moving..;).
Step 1:
Log in to your cPanel

Step 2
Move down to the Software/Service panel
Step 3
Click the “Quick Install” icon

Step 4
Click the “WordPress” icon
Step 5
Click the Continue button

Step 6
- Pick the domain you want your WordPress intall to reside on from the drop-down.
- Pick a directory you want your code to run in. Leave blank if you want it to run in the root directory. Add a valid email address. This is where the username and password will be sent after the install. Fanatstico allows you to pick a password, but with Quick Install, it emails you the access credentials, so make sure the email is a valid one!
You can name your blog, but is not required. You can change that once you get logged in.

Step 7
Check your email and get your login access.

Step 8
Access your new WordPress blog at :http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Put in your new login credentials and WALA!! Your in.
Make sure to change your password to something you can remember, but make sure it’s strong!
Now you can begin the journey in making your WordPress rich with informative content!!!
Rock on!
Hey I’ve recently tried to do this and have run into a little trouble. I followed your steps and received the email with my admin username and password. However, when I click on my website nothing has changed (lukeotleymedia(dot)com). It says in the email the install is successful.
Any help would be appriciated
Thanks, Luke
