GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how to do the canned response but I haven’t had the time to figure it out. Thanks for saving me so much time.

  2. Rick'o says:

Your welcome! Glad we could help!

  3. Paul says:

Is there any way of adding a ‘Subject’ line and ‘To’ contact person to the canned response ie for sending the same template email to someone on a regular basis (ie like a reminder but manually sending)?

  4. Rick'o says:

At this time, there is no way of doing that with Gmail. You could pull that off, somewhat, within the “Calendar” by adding contacts to an event and sending out a email reminder to all the contacts on the list. That might work. Hope that helps!

  5. Sarah says:

My canned response is showing up at the top of my email, no matter where my curser is….help! I want to be at the end of the email (not a signature though)

  6. Rick Nielsen says:

Let me try it on my end and I will let you know by the end of the day! What browser are you using…just so I know.

  7. Teresa says:

    Rick,
Have you found a way to change the default blue color of hyperlinks in canned responses? I would like to make the hyperlink text black or some other color.

  8. Rick Nielsen says:

    Great question Teresa!!

In order to change the link color in the WiseStamp signature, you will need to click the “HTML” tab after you open the Wise Stamp window from your browser.

Once in the HTML, look for the line of code that has the link or links you want to change color. In this case, here is what one of mine look like:
    <a style="font-family: georgia,serif;” href=”http://thewebtrainersystem.com”>http://thewebtrainersystem.com

The “span style” is embedded CSS. You can see it designates a font type only. If you want to change the link color, you would need to add a little css to this link, like so:

    <a style="font-family: georgia,serif; color:#336699;” href=”http://thewebtrainersystem.com”>http://thewebtrainersystem.com

    Notice the code after the font style: color:#336699;

The color code would be what ever RGB color you want. Just make sure you have the “#” at the beginning of the RGB color.

That should do it! Let me know if you get stuck!

I have a canned response saved but even though I have my cursor in the message and I click on the canned response I want to use nothing happens =[ I have tried to resave the canned response and still no good result =\ Any thoughts? ps- we have the same last name =]

  10. Ben says:

Would be very useful to be able to include the subject line in the text that get filled by the canned response functionality. Any headway on that?

    Thanks.

  11. Dora says:

I have added a hyperlink in my canned response and when i try to open it….its not working!!! what do i need to do to make the hyperlink go to the document i want it to go to??? PLZ Help

  12. Rick Nielsen says:

Dora, Let me try that in my canned response to see if I get the same issue. I will report back!

  13. I have a problem with ‘Canned Responses’, but maybe its something I’ve done wrong myself. At the moment I have 30 Canned Responses and I can only see the ‘Insert’ column, so if I want to ‘Save’ or ‘Delete’, it won’t allow me. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong please?

  14. Zaheer Abbas says:

My canned response is showing up at the top of my email, no matter where the cursor is. I need to position the canned response either at the end of the mail or at the position of my cursor. Is there a way to fix it.

  15. Rick Nielsen says:

    Zaheer,
Im going to test this and see what might be going on. I haven’t tested it in this new Gmail interface. Which by-the-way is ugly as hell!
I’ll report back shortly to see what I find.

    Thanks for the comment!

  16. Rick Nielsen says:

    Hey Zaheer,

What browser are you using? I just tested it in Chrome and it seems to be working there. Can you tell me more about your setup?

    Thanks!

  17. Rick Nielsen says:

    Hey Chris,
Would it be possible to take a screen shot of what your describing so I can see it? I’m more of a visual guy!

    Thanks!

  18. Terry says:

As of 2012, this article and its premise are false.

Canned responses are unusable, unsaveable, have a maximum limit, behave unpredictably and should be removed.

  19. Joe says:

Help! I am using a canned response for someone and now need to stop it. Please, how do I stop the canned response? Thanks!

  20. Rick Nielsen says:

Have you deleted the canned response from the drop-down in your Gmail? Let me know a bit more about your situation and I’ll be glad to help!

  21. Sara Contente says:

Canned responses are being inserted only at the top of the message, not at the position of the cursor. I am using Internet Explorer on a Windows 7 system. I posted this questions on another forum, and received a response to make a “fresh” canned response and try that. I did so, and it will only insert at the top of the message. Can this problem be solved?

  22. Rick Nielsen says:

    Hey Sara,

Unfortunately this appears to be an issue with Google and Gmail. I have used canned responses and the messages will insert where I place my cursor. Other times it wont. Have you tried a different browser?

And Google is not one to respond much to their users. One of my MASSIVE issues with Google, but I will save that for another rant!

If I find something else out Sara, I will post it and let you know.
    Thanks for asking! Take care/
