| How can I contact you? |
|
You can contact us by following this Contact

on this site first, to make sure you're not asking questions
which we've already answered here. Otherwise, drop us a line,
we'll be happy to hear from you!

| Do I need a computer to take this
course? |
|
You definitely need access to a computer, even if it's not
yours. Ideally you also want to be able to store all your
development work on the computer, otherwise you'll need your
own portable storage system. Although it might be possible to
do some of the work required in this course using an Internet
Cafe, for example, it will be difficult, because they may not
have the software required and they may have rules which don't
allow installing any 'non-standard' software onto their
machines. However computers are coming down in price all the
time, and as people upgrade their systems, older computers are
coming onto the second-hand market. You don't need the latest,
greatest, super fast computer to do the basic work required. A
basic second-hand machine capable of running Windows 95 (or
above) will be adequate to get started.

| Do I need to have any experience
of the Internet? |
|
You need to be comfortable with using a web browser such as
Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla. You should also be
comfortable with sending and receiving emails. You also need
to have some basic experience with using a search engine such
as Google, AltaVista, or Ask Jeeves. If you don't have this kind
of experience yet, it won't cost much to get yourself an
Internet account with a local provider and begin exploring.
After a few hours experience on the Internet you should be
ready to start your Internet Business. Try your local college
to see if they have any cheap or free night schools

How much seed money would I need to
start my Internet Business? |
|
Assuming you already have a computer, an Internet
connection, and web space, the simplest kind of Internet
Business can be started for less than £100 or $150. You would
need to build your own web pages, but you can start with just
a few simple pages which you can construct using free tools,
such as Netscape Communicator, or FrontPage Express. For a
more complex web site, having inbuilt e-commerce, databases
and so on then you may need £500 or more ($750 +) to get the
technology set up. You would need more if you were intending
hiring web designers to create your web site for you (but you
would also expect a very professional result). If you don't
have a lot of spare cash at the moment, think about starting
small and simple, and using the revenue from your first
Internet Business to fund the construction of something much
better. |
| Can I do this in my spare time whilst
keeping my full time job? |
|
Yes. This is a low risk way of creating your first Internet
Business. It will obviously take longer to develop than if you
worked on it full time, but if you keep plugging away at it, a
few hours a week, you will get there.
|
| Do I need to employ anybody in my
new business? |
|
Not if you don't want to. Jeff Bezos, CE of Amazon Inc
employs hundreds of people for his web business. However he is
basically acting as a book/video shop so he has people running
his warehouse and shipping physical products. It is possible
to create an Internet Business where you supply digital
products which people download from your web site. You can
also automate many functions, so a reasonable size business
can be run by just one or two people. There are also many
people who work free lance, if you need specialist help such
as web design or copywriting. You can hire these people on a
'one off' basis, without the problems of full employment.

|
What makes you think you can help
me improve my business when you have no experience of my
industry? |
|
Whilst we accept that we cannot possibly have intimate
knowledge and experience of all industries, the main thrust of
our training modules is to give you the tools you need to
harness your own expertise and industry knowledge in more
innovative ways than you may have otherwise considered, so
that you can get the best out of any Internet Business you
choose to set up.
