The earning potential of affiliate marketing has made the previously out-of-reach idea of working from home a reality for a lot of people in the last five years.

A successful affiliate marketer can earn a very sufficient income to provide for thier family. For that reason; more and more people in the prime of their earning life are taking the opportunity offered by affiliate marketing.

But, and this is a mighty big BUT, working at home isn’t quite as easy as it looks, though.

Here’s why:

Our lives are divided into multiple compartments. We have our “at home” compartment, our “at work” compartment, our “home maintenance” compartment, our “band night with the boys” compartment, etc. We think, speak, act, react — LIVE — in each of our life’s compartments in totally different ways.

It’s natural and much easier to keep life’s compartments separated when they take place at different physical locations. Most people don’t realize just how “compartmentalized” their lives really are until they try blending the “at-work” compartment with the “at-home” compartment. It can look mighty murky at times.

The following three work-at-home tips have been gleaned from my personal experience. I’ve living it as we speak. And I didn’t learn this information in a classroom, a book or an A&E special. Nothing but day to day experience speaking!

Tip #1 – Designate a Physical/Mental Workspace

You may have already tried working in the family room or at the kitchen table where family life is happening all around you. It doesn’t work very well, does it?

Designating “workspace” in your home is the basis of successfully working from home. The ultimate work-at-home space is a separate room designated as your “home office,” with a door that locks from the inside.

That’s not always possible.

Choose a corner of the room in your home that gets the least traffic. It doesn’t have to be huge. All you need is a space large enough to hold a table or desk, your computer, a telephone, and a chair. My spot is our sometimes cold and dark unfinished basement. Sounds creepy, but it is actually very cozy!

Tip #2 – Set Work Hours and Work Rules

One of the reasons why you wanted to work from home in the first place was so you didn’t have to drag yourself out of your nice, warm bed at the crack of dawn so you could make it to work at a specified time. You still don’t.

But you DO need to establish regular work hours. The Internet stays open 24/7, so your regular work hours can happen at anytime you wish, depending on the business you run that is. But they do have to happen, and they must happen on a regular basis if you want to successfully work from home. Consistent structure is the key.

If you don’t work enough hours, your business suffers.

If you work too many hours, your personal life suffers.

Balance is needed. A 40-hour work week is reasonable. Establish your own work schedule. Include at least, but no more than, 40 hours of work in each 7-day period.

From the cradle to the grave, humans are expected to follow whatever set of rules are imposed upon us. If we don’t follow those rules, penalties of some kind are imposed upon us.

We’re geared to follow rules. So it’s important that you make work-at-home rules.

Tip #3 – Retrain Yourself, Your Friends, and Your Family

Now for the really hard part. You DO have a job! You DO have to work! Just because you don’t get up, get dressed, and leave home DOESN’T mean you’re unemployed. You might not want to wear a bathrobes to get the mail though. The neighbors might talk.

Train Yourself: Accept the fact that if you don’t get your work done, you won’t earn any money. Abide by your own work-at-home rules, and enforce those rules for yourself first. If you’re abiding by the rules, it’s easier to convince others to also abide by them.

Train Your Friends: The answer to interruptions by neighbors and friends is: “I’m sorry. I can’t. I’m working. Maybe later.” Eventually, your friends will get the idea. Really.

Train Your Family: If you think it’s tough to train yourself and tough to train your friends, you “ain’t seen nuttin’ yet.” Training your family is the toughest item on this list — maybe on any list.

Family relationships are difficult, to say the very least. They’re complicated, too. Saying, “I’m sorry, I can’t right now — I’m working” to your significant other or your child can and will produce all kinds of responses, including shouting and tears.

Still, families can be trained at least to the point of keeping interruptions to a minimum. Family training should be undertaken with a great deal of patience. After all, these people gave you a reason to live in the first place.

Tip #4: Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!

Now before you think I have a bit of a stuttering problem, hear me out on this one. Life today has become extremely complicating and hectic with everything we need to try to accomplish day to day. Put kids AND a home based work environment in the pot, you have yourself one big mess!

So here is what we do. Every Saturday afternoon or evening, my wife and I sit down with Google Calendar, a absolute must tool for any entrepreneur. We begin by blocking out vital and must do events for family, church, kids, etc. Then we block out any family times we want during the week. Next, we hit The Web Trainer’s schedule. We mark off any face-to-face appointments needed to be done, trying to block them together or as close together as possible. Then we review the client projects and determine what needs to be done for the week. Most client projects are worked on in the morning and affiliate project and marketing are done after 12:30PM.

Get the picture? As a home based business ninja, having everything you need on a schedule is one of the only ways to keep yourself track. VERY easy at home to get sidetracked!!

Conclusion

Working from home isn’t nearly as easy or carefree as it looks from the outside. But it’s still way better than getting up at dawn, dressing, and fighting traffic so I can put in eight hours doing what others tell me to do.

Put these three work-at-home tips into action. You’ll improve your work-at-home experience as well as your work-at-home productivity.

One of the easiest ways to gain status, leads, credibility and trust from your customers is to write your own ebook.

Many people are intimidated by the thought of creating their own ebooks but the truth is, the process is very straight-forward and it can be enormously profitable. If you are already involved in activities such as blogging, article marketing and creating relationships with newsletters, an ebook is just one step beyond in the whole process but can really give your credibility rating an extra boost.

Here are three steps in how to write your own e-book.

1. Choose a topic for your target audience. Don’t make this into a huge product. Pick something relatively narrow within a major topic. So, for example, if the main topic is “internet marketing”, choose something that fits within that category like “article marketing”, or you could go even further and narrow it down to “keyword research for article marketing”.

Keep in mind that for an ebook to work the way you want it to, it must truly address the problems, concerns, or desires of your target market. The content must be top-of-the-line.

2. Brainstorm. Write down every idea you have, walk away and come back and write more. Put down anything and everything for now.

3. Organize your ideas into an outline. Divide your ideas into headers, subheaders, chapters and write descriptions of each point you include. Make sure to keep track of your references and write those down too.

4. Research. Hopefully you’ve picked a topic that you are familiar with already but whether you have or haven’t you’ll need to do research to make your content as valuable as possible. Take notes, mark references and use quotes as you write your own ebook.

4. Put all of your organized ideas and research into a very long article of at least 30 pages – this is your ebook!

5. Get a second opinion. Chances are you’ll spend quite a bit of time on this endeavor. Make sure that you step back every once in a while to give yourself a break. And when you’re near the end, ask someone else to read it for a more objective opinion. Whether it’s your friend, spouse or a fellow marketer, make sure you get a good, honest critique and, if possible, edit of your work.

Once you’re finished, you can either sell your ebook from your blog or website or you can offer it free of charge for people who sign up – the goal of this is to build your list.

If you decide on the first option, you’ll have to set up a shopping cart system. You don’t have to charge a lot for your ebook to make money and because it doesn’t cost you anything to create the book (if you don’t count the time you spend on it) so anything you sell will be a profit.

So now are you ready to write your own ebook?

Take a moment to think about how you would really answer this question. If given enough thought just about any business owner who utilizes the Internet for any purpose will likely find that whether or not they intentionally organized an Internet marketing campaign, they may already be marketing their products and services on the Internet. This article will examine some subtle ways business owners may already be marketing their business on the Internet.

Do you have a website for your business? Business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their products or services online just by virtue of the fact that they have a website online. Having a live website means there is the potential for curious Internet users to access your website. You may not be actively promoting your website but you may still find that your website generates interest in your products despite the lack of promotional endeavors; this is a form of passive marketing.

Do you participate in message boards and include a link to your website in your signature? Again business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their website online. Savvy business owners realize the importance of participation in industry related message boards to create an interest in their products and services, establish themselves as knowledgeable about the industry and offer a link to their own website even if it is in the signature line of their posts. However, even business owners who do not realize this may already be inadvertently enjoying the benefits of Internet marketing which result from message board participation just by doing something they enjoy and may be doing as a form of leisure activity.

Do you include keywords which are relevant to your business in the content of your website? Business owners who answer yes to this question are also already marketing on the Internet by optimizing their website for these keywords. These search engine optimization (SEO) affects the websites whether or not they were even aware of the concept of keyword density and how it can help to seo a website. Business owners will likely use certain words often depending on the type of products and services they offer just because it is natural and logical to do so. This tendency, however, can result in search engines boosting your website rankings for these particular keywords. The concept of seo is much more involved and complex than simply using keywords frequently but business owners can gain some benefit just by naturally applying relevant keywords to their website.

Do you solicit feedback from your customers online? This is yet another example of how business owners may be accidentally marketing their business on the Internet. Most business owners realize the importance of soliciting feedback from customers for business purposes and business owners who offer products online might solicit feedback in the form of online surveys. Although the business owners may be doing this simply for a business purpose the fact that it is done online makes it fall into the category of Internet marketing.

We have already discussed several ways in which business owners may already be marketing online but what about business owners who want to have an increased online presence? Business owners who may already be marketing online accidentally may wish to launch a full scale Internet marketing campaign. The best way to do this is to hire a consultant with experience in Internet marketing to assist you in creating a campaign which is effective for your target audience.

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills back.
With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why article writing, submissions and publications are also getting popular.

There are already many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, which is only half of the story.
Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. Publishing content that does not help your readers.
Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine.
Guess what? Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting.
You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight.
Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf.
In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality contents.
It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people.
Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.

2. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.
In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts.
But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them.
You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better contents.

3. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing.
You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same articles?
Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor texts which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this.
Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits.
But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site.
Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.

4 Things ALL Articles Must Have – Don’t Forget!

The importance of articles in today’s websites and internet based companies are immeasurable. They dictate a lot in the success and the drive of traffic into one’s site. It has become a key element in making a site work and earns a profit. A website operator and owner must have the good sense to include articles in his or her site that will work for them and earn them the many benefits articles can give to their site.

Articles have been known to be the driving force in driving traffic to a website. Articles are a factor in giving site high rankings in search result pages. The higher a site ranks the bigger slice of the traffic flow pie he gets. With a huge number in traffic flow, there are more profits and more potential for other income generating schemes as well.

But, it is not just about stuffing your site with articles; they have certain requirements as well. These requirements must be met to obtain the maximum benefits an article will provide for your site. A well written article will catch the eyes and interest of your customers and keep them coming back for more. They would also be able to recommend your site to others.

Here are some tips to help you and assist you in making your articles. Below you will read about four things all articles must have to make it successful and helpful in making your site a profit earning and traffic overflowing site.

• Keywords and Keyword Phrases.

An article must always be centered on the keywords and keyword phrases. As each website visitor goes to a site, there are those who are just merely browsing but actually looking for a specific something. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Toyota Camry, Meningitis, Tax Lawyer and Etcetera). It could be anything they want.

The Important thing is that you have an article that has the keywords that are related to your site. For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must be able t have articles about cars and their parts. There are many tools in the internet that provides service in helping a webmaster out in determining what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought out. You can use this tool to determine what keywords to use and write about.

• Keyword Density

Know that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them fully. An article must have good keyword density for a search engine to “feel” its presence. Articles should at least have ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content for search engines to rank a site high in their search results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a site.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader as well as the search engines. It comes off as overeager. A low number may be ignored by the search engines.

• Good Article Content

Like what is stated above, you cannot just riddle an article with keywords. They must also be regarded as good reading materials. Articles must be able to entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with correct spelling and good grammar. If you want people to trust you, make your work good and well thought out.

People respond well to figures, facts and statistics. Try to get great information and as many facts as you can. A good and well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more people believe in you. They will be able to trust you and your products.

• Linking Articles

And another important thing to remember. If you are going to submit articles to ezines and/or contribute your articles to newsletters and other sites, DON’T ever forget to include a link to your site. A little resource box with a brief description of your site and you should always be placed right after your articles that you have submitted. If people like your articles, they will most likely click on the link directing them to your site.

You’ve just signed up for this fantastic new affiliate program. They have great products, free referral websites, training, pre-made ads for you to copy and the best compensation plan on the internet. This is the best affiliate program on the internet! Put a few ads out there and you’re on your way to becoming the next internet millionaire. Right?

Before you break ground on that big mansion on the hill, here are a few mistakes many new affiliate marketers make that you’ll want to avoid.

5. Believing the hype

And yes, I do mean the hype promoted by your own program. Those income projections that every program makes are just that, projections. You can make that much. Will you within your first few months of the program? Probably not. Look at this as a long term investment in your future, not a way to get rich quick. Believe in yourself and your ability to make your dreams come true. But don’t believe the hype.

4. Expecting instant results with little effort

Expect to work your business. And expect to work it daily. If you opened your own neighborhood store, you’d expect to have to go in to work daily, wouldn’t you? You’d expect to have to advertise and get people to come to your store. Well, you just opened your own brand new internet store, what are you going to do to make it work? How are you going to get people to come look at your product?

3. Lack of a plan and specific goals

You’ve probably heard the saying, plan your work and work your plan. You need to have a specific plan and clear, measurable goals. Many people join affiliate programs with the vague goal of wanting to make a lot of money. How much money? How quickly do you want it? (Try to be realistic here, making a million dollars in one month is not realistic.) Okay, you have your clear, specific goal. Now how are you going to get there. Again, think clear, specific steps here.

2. Advertising your affiliate link

Wait a minute, if you don’t advertise your affiliate link, how are you supposed to get sales and downline members? Create your own website that has a link to your affiliate program. Every affiliate for your program gets the same website that you do. You have to be able to make yourself different from everyone else. The way you do that is with your own website.

1. Quitting

You’ve been working your affiliate program for 2, 3, maybe even 4 months now with very little to show for it. You’re getting discouraged and beginning to wonder if this is worth it after all. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure out what it is you need to be doing. Learn more. Bug your sponsor and your upline members until they help you out. Don’t quit. No one ever achieved success by quitting. Neither will you.

Do you know what does it takes to become a successful Affiliate Marketer? Could you tell me the essential ingredients of an affiliate marketing success story? Is there a shortcut to Affiliate Marketing glory? . All these of these questions play around in the minds of affiliate marketers who want to make it big in this business.

If you are anything like I was when I started out; excited and all set to make my fortune as an affiliate marketer and yet not knowing where to start you may have to say what I said, “I don’t have a clue!” If you are new to affiliate marketing can I tell you something? There are some essentials that you must know or you will waste an incredible amount of time and money.

Although affiliate marketing is touted as one of the easiest and most effective ways to earn money online, it is not as easy as it sounds. The wise affiliate marketer plans every action and executes it the best way he can. He should also maximize the potential to earn by utilizing the right tools necessary for a successful Affiliate Marketing business. We have consulted some of the most successful affiliate marketers in the business and below are the top three necessary tools for a successful affiliate marketing business.

Important Tool #1: Your Own Website

The most important and indispensable tool in Affiliate Marketing is your own website. The first step in any successful affiliate marketing business is building a good, credible and professional looking website. Your website is the jump off point of all your marketing efforts. Thus, you must first build a user-friendly website, which will appeal to your prospects and encourage them to click on the links to the products and service you are promoting and make a purchase. Therefore, you must first concentrate your efforts in building a website that will cater to what your prospects need.

Important Tool #2: Quality Content

One of the most powerful tools for building quality content for your website is writing relevant and informative articles. Consider this, almost all web users go online to look for information, not necessarily to go and buy something. Above all else, make your website full of original, relevant and useful content. People will love articles that are appealing and helpful. Keep in mind that, on the Internet, content is still king and good quality content will not only build your credibility, it can also help you achieve a higher search engine ranking. By posting relevant and useful articles, you establish yourself as a credible expert in the field, making you a more-trustworthy endorser of the product or service you promote. Establishing a good reputation on the net is a good step in building loyal customers and articles help establish credibility.

Important Tool #3: Incentives

Competition is extremely tight in the Internet world. You must always be one-step ahead of your rivals to ensure that you capture a significant share of your target market. Therefore, you must use every possible means to encourage people not only to visit your site but also to click and proceed to the websites of the products and services you are promoting. Building an opt-in email list is one of the best ways to gather prospects. Offer a newsletter or an e-zine. Better yet, offer incentives to your prospects to encourage them to subscribe to your newsletters. You can present free software, access to exclusive services and other freebies that will be helpful to your prospects.

Important Tool #4: Link Popularity

The importance of driving highly targeted traffic to your website cannot be emphasized enough. The all-important web traffic is at the top of the list of the most important success vehicles in the affiliate marketing world. Attracting people to your site should be the first step you should carry out. Do what is necessary to achieve a high search engine ranking. Link Popularity is one of the factors that search engines use to determine search engine rankings. Therefore, to enhance your link popularity, you must have an aggressive link building campaign.

One of the best ways to do this – at no cost at all – is by submitting articles as mentioned above, with your website’s link in the resource box. Submit to related e-zines and free article sites. You will not only gain exposure, you will also have the opportunity to advertise for free, just include a link back to your site. The more sites you submit your articles to, the better your link popularity is. Make your articles original, relevant and useful so that more websites will pick them up and post them.

These are but four of the many tools that an affiliate marketer can use to maximize earning potential. The possibilities are endless and are limited only by your imagination, creativity, resourcefulness and determination. You can always explore other ideas and adapt other strategies, which you think might help you become an affiliate marketing success.
