Meet Rick

Rick Nielsen, The Web TrainerThis is the page where an experienced copywriter succinctly portrays the more fabulous attributes of our own web trainer – Rick Nielsen. Here, the reader might expect to find ten- dollar phrases like: ‘cogent provider of web related specialties’ and,’ validated resource for a myriad of world wide web resources’ ,but, around here, we don’t even let our lawyer talk like that.  Besides, if you wanted to wade through that kind of verbiage, you’d be out sifting through the internet on your own right now.  So, let’s just get to the meat of it, shall we?  Here are of few of the relative high points about Rick Nielsen:

  • Rick has been in the web business for more than a decade. (He also has no hair.  We can’t officially tie these two things together, but I don’t think this is a coincidence, people.)
  • In that time, he has built nearly 400 websites.  (Did I mention he’s smack bald?)
  • Rick believes that the dynamic nature of the internet demands a proactive approach.  For this, he is always on the leading edge of trends – understanding what will “stick around” and what is “just hype”.
  • For the last several years , Rick has been helping clients with the ‘ins and outs’ of Social Media – teaching everything from how RSS feeds work and setting up a Facebook page, to how to use Twitter and YouTube.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a specialty.  Rick’s favorite phrase?  “What good is having a great website if no one can find it?”  (His other favorite phrase is, “Star Trek rules!” – but we don’t have to go into that.)
  • Rick does all his own hosting – for websites, not dinner parties. ( No.  No way.  Definitely not dinner parties.)

Let’s sum up before this gets lame – Rick makes it his job to filter out the noise and direct the small business owner to the 10% of applicable knowledge on the internet. From early on, his philosophy has not been to forever tether the client to him for information. Instead, he’d much rather enable the small business owner, by providing a tutorial on developing internet skills and then sending the client off in the right direction with a well designed road map. A man-sized bundle of bridled internet genius?  Maybe. More likely, some in the business might refer to him as an “expert”.

Blah, blah, blah….Is this page over yet?  Yes.  Congratulations.  You survived another ‘About’ page.
